The Day Called You Home Pic

This page is for all veterans and especially our POW's
and all those who are fighting for the liberation of Iraq.
I have watched the progress of the war and the
demonstrations in the USA as well as in other countries.
I don't think anyone truly wants war and I know all the
young men and women in Iraq would much rather be at
home with their families. If you have seen all the young
Iraqi soldiers leaving their weapons and walking with
hands in the air to give themselves up to our troops,
how can our soldiers not be proud? If you have seen the
beautiful faces of the innocent little children as their
families flee to live in caves in an effort to survive, how
can you not support our troops and their efforts in
this war?

It is this attitude of apathy that allows a young woman to
be gang raped in a bar while others stand by watching
and egging it on. They see all and know all until the case
goes to court and then they are totally dumb - never saw
anything, never heard anything and know nothing -
EXCEPT for one young man who had the courage to
step forward even though one of his friends was
involved and tell exactly what happened to bring
convictions in the case! Saddam has been "raping"
the people of Iraq for years.

God's Flowers and His People

My sister has taught her little grand-daughter that people are God's
flowers and that like the flowers in a garden, people come in all
colors, all shapes and all sizes.

Our flower gardens would be very dull and uninteresting if the flowers
were all the same color, shape, and size. Just imagine how boring this
old world would be if people were all the same. Wouldn't it be
wonderful though if we could all see beyond people's outward
appearance and see what is within them that we might live in
harmony like the flowers in our gardens?

A Prayer For The World

by Rabbi Harold S. Kushner

Let the rain come and wash away the ancient grudges,
the bitter hatreds held and nurtured over generations.

Let the rain wash away the memory of the hurt, the neglect.

Then let the sun come out and fill the sky with rainbows.

Let the warmth of the sun heal us wherever we are broken.

Let it burn away the fog so that we can see each other clearly.

So that we can see beyond labels, beyond accents, gender, or skin color.

Let the warmth and brightness of the sun melt away our selfishness.

So that we can share the joys and feel the sorrows of our neighbors.

And let the light of the sun be so strong that we will see all people as our neighbors.

Let the earth, nourished by rain, bring forth flowers to surround us with beauty.

And let the mountains teach our hearts to reach upward to heaven.

Amen
