which recently crossed Rainbow Bridge due to an accident.
Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to
someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are
meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they
can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water
and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to
health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made
whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our
dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and
content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone
very special to them who had to be left behind.
They run and play together, but the day comes when one
suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes
are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to
run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs
carrying him faster and faster.
YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend
finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to
be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face;
your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once
more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from
your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...

My little pretty face Pinky crossed Rainbow Bridge today
August 12, 2003 at the age of 16 years. She was one of a litter of nine
precious little kittens that some non-caring, cheapskate idiot dumped
on a logging road in Jefferson National Forest. My nephews and several
of their friends went fishing and found these lil critters. They
caught all but two of them and brought them home. We kept Pinky because
she was the runt of the group and so very shy and skittish. Joey asked
to keep her because he said nobody would adopt her since she was not
playful and friendly like the others. After a couple of years, she
did begin to come out of hiding when people came to visit. She was a
brave lil kitten, standing up to my dog Dreyfus, reminding him that
cats had rights too and helping to keep him in line. She was a dainty
lil lady and when she ate, unlike Moses who grabs a mouthful of food,
she would take her paw to take one piece of food at a time and chew
each piece very carefully.
ROBIN

This is Robin, my friend Stormy's beautiful little pony. Robin has been very special to a lot
of kids - first for Stormy's daughter and after she outgrew him, to other children who loved him so much.
Robin had cancer and the decision was made for him to cross Rainbow Bridge on October 27, 2003 rather
than for him to have to suffer.

My little Dreyfus crossed Rainbow Bridge today March 2, 2005 at 5:15 P.M. After I brought him from the vet on Februsry 23, he apparently had another stroke. He was on his meds for inflamation in his hips but he got where it was almost impossible to get up and when or if he did, he staggered and walked into the door frames. He seemed to be suffering so much and I made the decision to let him go to a more peaceful place. He would have been 14 years old this May.
Dreyfus was a retirement gift from my very special fifth period calss. They knew that I had recently had to have Gilligan, my German Shepherd, put to sleep and they got together - behind my back:-) and decided I needed something to keep me busy when I retired. They planned an after school party the week before exams started and it seems that one of the boys Sport had plotted with his mom Carolyn to give me this little puppy that was one of theirs. This was after my sister and I had decided that we would not have any more pets but Carolyn had a solution for every excuse that I made. So, how could I say "no"?
When my nephew Joey came in from work that afternoon, he looked at this little critter and said, 'Well, he ain't much of a dog!" Later that summer, he had cause to change his mind. He was working construction and would come in hot and tired and one afternoon I thought I'd be nice and help him out by mowing some of the lawn. As I started to make a cut across the back yard, Dreyfus went running toward the fence, grabbed something and came back to the opposite side of the yard. I got a quick glimpse of the object and thought, "Oops, I don't like the looks of this". I got Dreyfus into the house and when Joey came in, I gave him a trash bag and asked him to get what Dreyfus had left at the top of the lilly bed and put it in the trash can. A few minutes later, Joey came in and said that Dreyfus might be a pretty good dog after all because he had apparently had a wonderful midnight feast - he had caught a big rabbit and devoured most of it!
Dreyfus started out as an outside dog but my cousin Betsy changed him into a house dog when she was staying with us during their moving process. She would bring her Honey dog which was a house dog and she insisted that Honey needed a playmate. Of course, it wasn't long before Dreyfus was a full fledged house dog also and he loved it!
He was my best critter buddy, a wonderful back warmer for as long as he could get on my bed with the help of a large antique footstool, and a wonderful listener who would wink to let me know that he understood what I was saying.
Dreyfus, my little buddy, I willl miss you!

Our beautiful Moses crossed Rainbow Bridge this afternoon August 5, 2005. He was just a handful of fur eighteen years ago when Billy, my younger nephew, brought him home. He actually turned out to be my mother's cat and she had him as spoiled as she did Billy.
When we had Mittens, he would sleep on the foot of my bed unless my mother happened to get up during the night. Then he was really in trouble because it made no difference the hour, she would toss a piece of newspaper at him to run him off which usually woke me up
as well. BUT Moses was a whole different story. There were many mornings that she would come in the kitchen and announce that she had not slept well because Moses went to sleep on her feet and she didn't want to move to wake him up!
When my nephew Joey was going to the community college, he would sit at one end of the dining room table to do his home work. Just about as soon as he sat down, Moses would jump up and sit in front of him so he could swat his pencil as he was trying to write. After a while when he got tired of that, he'd just stretch out in front of Joey and nap. As far as my mother was concerned this was just the cutest site ever!
When he was a baby and my mother would start down the hallway to the kitchen, he was right behind her, trying to nip her heels. When he got a bit older though, he knew she was headed for the fridge and he'd run after her, hop on the table, leap across to the counter and jump upon the fridge, head hanging over the edge waiting to see what my mother was after. He was especially delighted when she got ice cream because that meant that he got some too!
I hate always being the one to make this kind of decision but I know it was best for Moses because he had lost a lot of weight and was having kidney problems. I know he will find my mother and Daddy, and as always, my mother will be feeding him ice cream!
I love you Moses!
