When I was in Spain one summer with a group from the
University of Virginia, we visited the Spanish Civil War
memorial. Some of us were standing in front of the entrance
and enjoying the beautiful view of the surrounding mountains
and the blue sky with wonderful white cottoney clouds when
one in the group said he could not understand how anyone
could see a view like that and not believe in God. A man
who overheard this added - "Or man." We learned a while
later that he was an atheist. That is his choice and I
respect that but I can not imagine any human who could have
ever viewed such a scene as that or the one depicted
on this web set and believe that man did all of this!

One of my nephews went through a period of doubt as to the existence of God after being taught Darwin's theory in one of his science classes. After he got into kayaking he had occasion to change his mind on the subject. One weekend he went to run a stream and when he came home I asked him if he had a good time. He said in a rather short manner that he did not want to talk about it. I told him that it was fine if he didn't want to discuss it but I thought it was strange because he usually is happy to talk about his kayakig trips. He later told me that while he was running the stream, his kayak became wedged in an undercut. He said that he was holding his breath and trying his best to get the apron of the kayak loose when suddenly he and the boat were "shoved" to the surface - like God had reached down and just pushed his kayak free of the rocks!

The Hand of God

May the new day bring you blessings, as the light comes filtering through. May your sunrise be as lovely, as a morning draped in dew.

May the wind blow forth a promise, sending sweet bouquets your way. May life seem a little brighter, as you rise to greet the day.

May the daybreak render pleasure, as the birds begin to sing May the distant roll of thunder, bring forth a touch of Spring.

May the mist embrace the stillness, like a fire fly in the night. May an angel walk beside you, to hold you in the light.

May the rain caress your body and life drops flood your soul. May His Spirit come upon you, to cleanse and make you whole.

May the showers come so softly, running gently through your hair. May you touch the living water and know that He is there.

May the freshness bring you new life, pushing through the tender sod. May you pause to pick a flower and brush the hand of God. Copyright ©2001 Marilyn Ferguson
