Fairground Carousel

I loved the melodious sound

When the carousel went round and round

While under the carousel dome

I sat upon the horse of my choice!

Friends could hardly wait for a carousel ride

As time so slowly did bide.

The carousel came to town

And circled round and round

At fair time

When the ride was only a dime!

During September's first chill,

It was a charming thrill--

Teens wanting to ride all night

In the moonlight

Nonstop till morning's light!

Those majestic horses

Were restrained by bridles of sparkling jewels

Yet, they galloped in midair

Faster and faster

With rhythm to their whirl

And a graceful twirl.

I close my eyes in reverie

Remembering simple things

That life did bring.

I delight in recalling that revolving ride

And the excitement of seeing the horses racing by...

As I return to yesterday's time

Of laughter, fun, and entertainment for a dime,

I want the carousel ride to forever remain

For all ages the same...

So here's a toast

To ten retired teachers who can boast

They have recently experienced a carousel twirl

And an up and down swirl!
