The Thimble

The needle will not prick my finger,

Not a drop of blood will be.

For of the finest porcelain came a thimble,

From my dear friend to me.

The thimble carries a lovely picture,

Of God’s awesome handicraft.

A tiny frog in one of nature’s settings,

Using a Lillypad for a raft.

When I placed it on my aged finger,

A memory was then born.

In years to come the thimble will mend,

Many things that are torn.

Yet much more than that, I thought

Of the time that was spent

Finding this lovely porcelain thimble,

To fix things that are rent.

It will be a reminder of gentleness,

And much deep devotion

That brought me tears of happiness,

And loving true emotion.
