Another Sweeter Road

When my feet are dragging and to pain there seems no end,
I turn myself to Jesus where my prayers I send.
He listens to my pleas and touches my soul with grace,
And always brings me ease in this weary place.

Sometimes when I feel I can’t face another pain filled day,
He picks me up and stands right beside me as I pray.
He lets me know my days on earth are not quite yet through,
There’s something more here that I still have left to do.

What it is I do not know He has not revealed it yet to me,
So I do not question His will; I just wait to see.
I’m sure when that time comes, my Lord will take me home,
And on this pain filled world I will no longer roam.

Lord, bring me peace and relief from these worldly trials.
It seems I have walked so many hard and tired miles.
Let my spirit come to You and put my body in the ground,
For when my time comes, my freedom will be found.

Please hear me today as I send this heartfelt plea to You,
Lord, let me finish what You have kept me here to do.
I don’t want to go but my body is all worn out and weak,
So please do Your will with me; it’s heaven that I seek.

I hang my head in shame for wanting to hurry up and leave,
Because I will hurt so many that over me will grieve.
You know my heart is heavy and my load You help me carry,
So for a little time here on earth I’ll have to tarry.

Forgive me if I seem impatient and not grateful for Your will,
But, Lord, I don’t think I can keep climbing this steep hill.
I thank You for the life You gave me and the blessings You bestowed,
But now, Lord, I’m ready to walk another sweeter road.
